Diane Dwyer was born in Naha, Okinawa, and grew up in New England.
She is an interdisciplinary artist with a focus on performance.
Diane splits her time between York, Maine and Brooklyn, New York, where, before the pandemic, she
hosted Diane’s Circus and cloyingPARLOR in her home. These performance projects explore the
negotiation of public and private space, as well as the labels amateur and professional. Last year
she performed in Emergency24 in Manchester, England. 2022 performances include Performance
Art Bergen in Norway, Mobius’ One Minute Solos in Cambridge, and Brick Theater, Brooklyn. Other
New York performances include Panoply Performance Lab, Microscope Gallery, Queens Museum,
Bullet Space, Wild Projects, Grace Exhibition Space, and the Bronx Museum of Art. Her work has
screened in Bulgaria, Cuba, England, Ireland, Montenegro, Russia, and Venezuela, and included in
festivals and exhibitions in Atlanta, Baltimore, Beacon, Boston, Detroit, DC, Las Vegas, and Miami’s
Satellite Art Show.
She earned a BFA from Museum School/Tufts University, an MFA from the University of Connecticut
through a teaching fellowship. She is a part-time Associate Professor at Parsons School of Design.
